Sometimes great things come in small packages. The pineal gland, so-named because of its likeness to a pine cone (Latin pinea), is about the size of a grain of rice. Yet, science has barely discovered the fullness of its uses in the body or its  connection to the mind/soul.

The parasympathetic nervous system incites our “rest and digest, feed and breed” activities; the endocrine system produces hormones, communicating signals such as hunger, satiation, sexual desire, wakefulness or sleepiness. The pineal gland is vital for converting signals from the parasympathetic to the endocrine system.

Melatonin

The pineal gland is also responsible for the production of melatonin from tryptophan. Melatonin helps to regulate circadian rhythm and plays a role in the timing of puberty. Deficiency in melatonin is linked with premature sexual development, insomnia, cancer, Alzheimer’s and mental disorders such as bipolar.

Light Receptor

The pineal gland has been tagged the “third eye” because of its resemblance to the human retina and its function as a light receptor. Light enters the body through the retina of the eyes and is sent to the brain, which then sends it to the gland.

The Mind’s Eye

Some have also linked the function of the pineal gland to extrasensory abilities naming among them intuition, discernment, psychic awareness and expanded mind capacity.

The gland’s semblance to the human eye and its location in the brain make it appear to be, quite literally, the mind’s eye.
Practically speaking, the desires of our heart direct our eyes to and from that which we do and don’t want. The eyes then receive light into the body, send it to the brain, which transports it to the pineal gland. The light stimulus activates the gland.

It happens that our mind’s eye receives constant and massive blood supply, ever taking in nourishment from the blood life force. As a result, any “death” in the blood, aka toxicity, easily accumulates in the pineal gland.

For this crucial piece of the brain, one of the most prevalent dangers today is the accumulation of fluoride and other toxins in the blood, causing a protective measure over the pineal gland known as calcification.

Here are 7 tips to decalcify and reignite the health of your pineal gland.

1.  Clean Water

Municipal water in the USA has been treated with a toxic form of fluoride for more than half a century. Many people have accumulated sodium fluoride in the pineal gland. To reverse this, get rid of fluoride, and you can start with your drinking water. Purchase a reverse osmosis or other fluoride water filter or get well or spring water if you can.

2.  Ditch the Crest

If you haven’t already, eliminate sodium fluoride by getting rid of conventional toothpastes. You can easily make a homemade teeth cleaning and whitening, mouth cleansing paste out of coconut oil, baking soda and a dab of peppermint or cinnamon oil. You can also buy fluoride free herbal toothpaste.

3.  Eat Organic

The problem is not simply fluoride; it’s also the accumulation of calcium deposits as the body’s immune response to toxins. Pesticides, artificial ingredients, hormones, other contaminants enter from bad food into the blood stream and flow directly to the pineal gland. Calcification occurs as a protective guard against these harmful chemicals. Switching to organic fruits, veggies and animal products will help to stop the flooding of chemicals into the bloodstream and throughout the body; thus reducing immune responses like inflammation and calcification.

4.  Sun Soaking

Sunlight activates the pineal gland and stimulates decalcifying. Get 20 minutes of sunshine every day for a healthy dose. Go hatless so that the sunrays will also be received through your skin and go straight to the brain. Do this consistently and you should notice excellent activity in the gland when night falls, producing a goodly measure of melatonin for sound sleep.

To take it a step further, try safe sun gazing. The famous HiraRatanManek pioneered the sun gazing practice in the West and claims to have enlarged his pineal gland.

5.  Citric Acid

Eat citrus fruits or drink the raw juice of lemons each morning. The acid helps to break down calcium deposits and gently detoxes.

6.  Iodine

Iodine has been shown to assist the body in releasing fluoride through the urine, and is essential for the healthy function of the thyroid gland. Enjoy dried seaweed, such as kelp, navy beans, tuna and eggs. Kelp supplements are also available.

7.  Boron/Borax

Boron is a mineral found in food. It’s used to build strong bones and muscles, promote good muscle coordination and healthy testosterone levels, and to enhance cognition. It’s also known as an effective fluoride remover. Boron is found naturally in raisins, dates, chick peas, red kidney beans, hazel nuts, walnuts, lentils and peanut butter.

Borax is the common supplement form for Boron, but note that concentrated supplementation is controversial.

Other foods that cleanse and nourish the pineal gland include coconut oil; superfoods chlorella, blue-green algae, and wheatgrass; along with herbs and spices cilantro, parsley, turmeric and cayenne. In the 1990s, a British scientist, Jennifer Luke, discovered that fluoride accumulates to strikingly high levels in the pineal gland. (Luke 2001). The pineal gland is located between the two hemispheres of the brain and is responsible for the synthesis and secretion of the hormone melatonin. Melatonin maintains the body’s circadian rhythm (sleep-wake cycle), regulates the onset of puberty in females, and helps protect the body from cell damage caused by free radicals.

While it is not yet known if fluoride accumulation affects pineal gland function, preliminary animal experiments found that fluoride reduced melatonin levels and shortened the time to puberty. (Luke, 1997). Based on this and other evidence, the National Research Council has stated that “fluoride is likely to cause decreased melatonin production and to have other effects on normal pineal function, which in turn could contribute to a variety of effects in humans” (NRC, 2006, p. 256).

The Pineal Gland Has Highest Levels of Fluoride in Body

As a calcifying tissue that is exposed to a high volume of blood flow, the pineal gland is a major target for fluoride accumulation in humans. In fact, the calcified parts of the pineal gland (hydroxyapatite crystals) contain the highest fluoride concentrations in the human body (up to 21,000 ppm F), higher than either bone or teeth.  (Luke 1997; 2001). Although the soft tissue of the pineal does not accumulate fluoride to the same extent as the calcified part, it does contain higher levels of fluoride than found than in other types of soft tissue in the body — with concentrations (~300 ppm F) that are known in other contexts to inhibit enzymes.  While the impacts of these fluoride concentrations in the pineal are not yet fully understood, studies have found that calcified deposits in the pineal are associated with decreased numbers of functioning pinealocytes and reduced melatonin production (Kunz et al., 1999) as well as impairments in the sleep-wake cycle. (Mahlberg 2009).

Fluoride and Earlier Puberty in Girls

In the United States, children are reaching the age of puberty at earlier ages than in the past — a trend that carries health consequences, including a heightened risk for breast cancer. Some evidence indicates that fluoride, via its effect on the pineal, could be a contributing cause to this trend. In animal studies, for example, fluoride exposure has been found to cause a decrease in the amount of circulating melatonin and lead to an accelerated sexual maturation in females. (Luke 1997). Similar findings have been reported in two epidemiological studies of human populations drinking fluoridated water. In the first published fluoridation safety experiment in Newburgh, New York, the authors found that girls living in a fluoridated community reached puberty five months earlier than girls living in a non-fluoridated community. (Schlesinger 1956)  Later, in 1983, Farkas reported that postmenarcheal girls were “present at younger ages in the higher fluoride town than in the low-fluoride town, although the reported median ages were the same.”

A lot of food that we eat today contains genetically modified ingredients and usually without our knowledge. Supporters of this technology maintain that it ensures and sustains food security around the world as the population increases. As well as scientific debates on the merits of genetically engineered food, there are equally, if not more important, debates on the socioeconomic ramifications of the way such science is marketed and used.

Biotechnology companies erroneously claim that their manipulations are similar to natural genetic changes or traditional breeding techniques. However, the cross-species transfers being made, such as between fish and tomatoes, or between other unrelated species, would not happen in nature and create new toxins, diseases, and genetic weaknesses. When genetic engineers insert a new gene into any organism there are “position effects” which can lead to unpredictable changes in the pattern of gene expression and genetic function. The protein product of the inserted gene may carry out unexpected reactions and produce potentially toxic products. There is also serious concern about the dangers of using genetically engineered viruses as delivery vehicles (vectors) in the generation of transgenic plants and animals. This could destabilise the genome, and also possibly create new viruses, and thus dangerous new diseases.

Unlike chemical or nuclear contamination, genetic pollution is self-perpetuating. It can never be reversed or cleaned up; genetic mistakes will be passed on to all future generations of a species.

LIE #3. Medical Screening and Treatments Prevent Death

Radiation-induced cancers have tripled in the last two decades and diagnostic imaging has been already admitted as a cause by the U.S. government.

There is a secular trend between breast cancer mortality and screening programs specifically medial diagnostic techniques such as mammography. In a Swedish study of 60,000 women, 70 percent of the mammographically detected tumors weren’t tumors at all. These “false positives” aren’t just financial and emotional strains, they may also lead to many unnecessary and invasive biopsies. In fact, 70 to 80 percent of all positive mammograms do not, upon biopsy, show any presence of cancer.

A prostate (PSA) blood test looks for prostate-specific antigen, a protein produced by the prostate gland. High levels are supposedly associated with prostate cancer. The problem is that the association isn’t always correct, and when it is, the prostate cancer isn’t necessarily deadly. Only about 3 percent of all men die from prostate cancer. The PSA test usually leads to overdiagnosis — biopsies and treatment in which the side effects are impotence and incontinence. Repeated biopsies may spread cancer cells into the track formed by the needle, or by spilling cancerous cells directly into the bloodstream or lympathic system.

News coverage of many diseases focus too much on treatments and not enough on prevention, a trend that could prove risky in the long run for most people who don’t understand how to take care of their health.

A growing number of communities are choosing to stop adding fluoride to their water systems, even though the federal government and federal health officials maintain their full support for a measure they say provides a 25 percent reduction in tooth decay nationwide.

There are now serious facts and health risks regarding fluoridation which can no longer be ignored and the practice itself is being questioned by most of the world.

Austrian researchers proved in the 1970s that as little as 1 ppm fluoride concentration can disrupt DNA repair enzymes by 50%. When DNA can’t repair damaged cells, we get old fast.

Fluoride prematurely ages the body, mainly by distortion of enzyme shape. All systems of the body are dependent upon enzymes. When fluoride changes the enzymes, this can damage every system and function of the body.

The ‘noddy-science’ offered by marketing men to a generally scientifically -naive public has led many people to believe that we should replace certain food choices with specially developed products that can help ‘reduce cholesterol’. Naturally this comes at a price and requires those who can afford it to pay maybe four or five times what a ‘typical ordinary’ product might cost. But is this apparent ‘blanket need’ to strive towards lowering our cholesterol justified? And, indeed, is it healthy?

The cholesterol itself, whether being transported by LDL or HDL, is exactly the same. Cholesterol is simply a necessary ingredient that is required to be regularly delivered around the body for the efficient healthy development, maintenance and functioning of our cells. The difference is in the ‘transporters’ (the lipoproteins HDL and LDL) and both types are essential for the human body’s delivery logistics to work effectively.

Problems can occur, however, when the LDL particles are both small and their carrying capacity outweighs the transportation potential of available HDL. This can lead to more cholesterol being ‘delivered’ around the body with lower resources for returning excess capacity to the liver.

We need to reform education on what really causes heart disease and why cholesterol, whether high or low, is not an evil process in the body, but a natural part of our biology. When we stop listening to medical doctors, suddenly we start listening to what our bodies crave… to be the healthiest version of ourselves.
